+ Bio Sculpture Nails
A nail biter  with very short nails has a special occasion in the future and wants to get there nails done. What do you recommend?

The Client should have a new set of bio sculpture gels approximately 5 weeks prior to the occasion. This way as the Client’s nails are slowly growing she is becoming accustomed to the new length. 5 weeks growth should also give her a good length. First refill should be applied within the first two weeks.

I swim 2 – 3 times a week in a chlorine pool, will this damage the Gel?

If the pool is highly chlorinated the Gel may become soft or discoloured as chlorine is a very strong chemical.  We suggest you apply an additional coat of Bio Sculpture Top Coat, which will seal and protect your gel.  After swimming remember to wash your hands with warm soapy water to remove the chlorine residue.

I have another brand of top coat, why can’t I use it?

We highly recommend you use the Bio Sculpture Top Coat.  Our top coat has been specifically formulated to protect the surface of the Gel from absorbing every day substances that can damage and stain the Gel.  You will find that another brand of top coat, can cause discolouring or even soften the Gel, this is due to a chemical reaction between the top coat and the Gel.

I have been using another brand nail polish remover to remove my Bio Sculpture Top Coat every second week, the Gel is starting to feel soft and is lifting around the cuticle area.  Why is this happening?

The nail polish remover you are using contains chemicals that are damaging to Bio Sculpture Gel.  Even if your nail polish remover is Non-Acetone, it still has many different chemicals to the Bio Sculpture Nail Polish Remover, which has been specifically formulated not to damage the Gel or the natural nail.  We recommend you use all Bio Sculpture products with your gel as these are compatible and will cause no damage to your gel.

I had a fresh overlay of Gel applied 3 weeks ago.  The Gel has cracks on the surface.  Do I need to soak off the Gel and start again?

No you don’t need to soak off and start again.  With a fresh set the Gel can be quite flexible.  The Top Coat is not as flexible as the Gel and can form small crazy cracks.  The client should remove their Top Coat with Bio Sculpture Non-Acetone Nail Polish Remover, wash their hands and then apply a fresh coat of the Bio Sculpture Top Coat.  If this occurs at other times, it could be that the Gel application is too thin.

I’m a hairdresser and have worn other nail systems before and found that they always came off.  Is there anything that you can recommend for me?

Bio Sculpture Gel, if applied correctly will look and work great on Hairdresser’s nails.  The Gel is flexible and very durable in water, which is perfect for Hairdressers.  Colour Gel is best suited as the staining from the hair dye, will not show.   Ensure that you have a refill every 2 weeks.

+ Shellac Nails
What is Shellac?

Shellac is the brand name for a new, nail product created by Creative Nail Design. It is a hybrid, meaning half nail polish, half gel. The product is thin and strong enough to be applied similarly to nail polish, but it is cured in a way that gives it great flexibility and durability. It also has the incredible shine associated only with gel nails.

Who is Shellac best suited for?

Shellac is for people who want to maintain natural nails. The formulation looks as good from day 1 to day 14, but does not appear to damage nail beds.

Who is Shellac least suited for?

Shellac is not for those who are looking to lengthen their nails. You cannot use Shellac to create a longer nail. Also, Shellac isn’t for clients with extremely damaged nail beds, split or peeling nails. It is best to get on a corrective program with your manicurist before thinking about Shellac. If your nail is peeling off, it will take Shellac with it.

How is Shellac different from the traditional polish manicure?

Typical nail polish dries by evaporation, which means your manicure is not cured until 2-3 hours after your service. Think about it – most of your manicure time is spent waiting for polish to dry. But Shellac is cured by UV light, and within minutes. Your nails are completely dry by the time your manicure is over, and strong enough to withstand accidental knocks. It acts like a plasticized coating, suitable as a long lasting polish.

How is a Shellac service different from traditional nail enhancements (fake nails)?

Drills are never used or needed with Shellac, and removal does not leave nails dry, thin or possibly torn.

Can you apply Shellac at home?

No, Shellac can only be applied by a licensed, trained manicurist. Improper tools or techniques will give a less than desirable result with Shellac.

Why are my shellac nails sticky?

At the end of the application process the nails will always be sticky. In order to remove this all that needs to be done is a quick wipe down of the nails with a cotton ball wet with alcohol.

Are the UV rays from the lamp dangerous?

Like the suns rays, UV can be harmful however, CND scientists tell us that that direct sun light contains significantly more UV than the UV lamp.  If concerned, we recommend you simply wear sunscreen on your hands.

Can you take Shellac off at home?

You can. It requires the use of 100% acetone. Removal at home can be done; proper removal is only 10 minutes overall. However, removal at the salon very minimally increases the time and may be less of an inconvenience for you.

Will Shellac last longer than 14 days?

Many women have asked if their Shellac Nails will last longer than 14 days. The answer is yes. Although it can last longer than 14 days, we recommend getting it removed and re-applied at 14 days or just a little after.

What Should You Expect After 14 Days

For most women their nails grow fast. Nails that are healthy do grow fast and this is good. However, nail growth is the reason most women get removal and reapplication at the 14 day mark. They do this because the nail has grown out and it is visible from the bottom of the shellac, on the nail, and the new nail growth.

The second reason for getting the shellac removed at the 14 day mark is for the best removal results. The adhesion of the shellac will increase the longer the Shellac is worn. By waiting more than 14 days you are in fact making it a little harder to remove the shellac. This means that the removal process will take longer.

Is Shellac Safe For Pregnant Women?

Of course with every pregnant woman should independently consult with their doctor prior to using a new product or service. We recommend that pregnant women consult with their doctor prior to receiving shellac.

CND has reported that the Shellac products have not shown problems with pregnant women. Some pregnant women are concerned with the amount of UV light exposure from the UV light. It has been proven that the amount of UV light exposure by the CND lamp is equivalent to walking from your home to your automobile.

Threading is a hair removal technique that is the most precise way to remove unwanted facial hair. Threading is not only used on the eyebrows but also on the upper lip, chin, side burns or any area of the face. Many cosmetologists, makeup artists and aestheticians are choosing this method of hair removal for their clients because it can be less painful, more precise and last longer than waxing.

+ Xen-Tan
How does Xen-Tan give such a natural-looking tone?

The secret to Xen-Tan’s success is the increased levels of DHA, the active tanning ingredient. DHA is released slowly over time to give a deeper, richer olive tone that lasts longer. Our unique formula contains a special time-release agent called Lexorez, which means we can include much higher levels of DHA. Combined with premium moisturisers that are absorbed naturally into the skin, the result is a smoother, more even sunless tan.

How long does Xen-Tan last for?

Once applied, Xen-Tan Dark and Medium products create an instant, seductive colour that intensifies over the next 8 hours, whereas if you opt for a Light/Gradual Xen-Tan product, your colour will start to develop within 3-4 hours, and will continue deepening for the next 4 hours. You’ll then be getting envious looks and adoring glances for up to ten days, which can be extended using our Transform gradual tanner as a tan extender.

Xen-Tan is packed with moisturisers that penetrate deep into your skin to prevent dry patches from occurring. This also makes it easier to apply to problem areas like hands and feet. So once you’re done, all you’re left with is a sensational look and dreamy smooth skin. Nothing more, nothing less.

Why does Xen-Tan last longer than other brands?

It’s quite simple really – many existing brands use fruit acids to remove unwanted skin cells from the surface of your body. These fruit acids, whilst effective, also make your tan fade faster and dry out your skin, So we’ve removed all fruit acids from our body tanning products and enriched our formula with moisturisers that retain your glow for longer. These premium moisturisers, combined with the higher levels of DHA in our products and the special time-release agent, Lexorez, mean Xen-Tan lasts days longer than other fake tans on the market.

Is Xen-Tan suitable for very fair skin?

Yes it is. In fact, Xen-Tan was specifically formulated by a fair-skinned woman for this very reason! The unique combination of moisturisers and time-release agent Lexorez, plus the fact all of our products have olive and not orange undertones, mean they work with your natural colour. So now even the fairest skin can enjoy a beautiful, natural-looking glow that blends in seamlessly regardless of skin tone, leaving you with an exquisite tan and a radiant smile.

Do you have to sleep in it like other self-tanning formulas?

No. Unlike other sunless tans Xen-Tan gives an instant, pure colour that becomes richer over time. And because it’s beautifully scented it’s a pleasure to use any time of day. Ideal if you want to look sensational and feel amazing in no time at all.

How long do I need to leave Xen-Tan on before showering it off?

Your tan will start to develop over the 3-4 hours following application. You can wash it off after that, but for the best possible results, we suggest you leave it on for at least 7-8 hours before showering. Thanks to its delicious scent, you can apply it first thing and feel confident wearing it all day. We do recommend wearing darker clothes while your tan is developing.

How long does Xen-Tan take to develop?

If you choose a product with an instant colour guide, you’ll see the difference on your skin as soon as you apply. Your tan will then continue to develop over the next 3-4 hours. You can wash it off after that, but if you want to achieve the best possible results, we recommend you leave it on for at least 7-8 hours.

Can people with dry skin use Xen-Tan?

Xen-Tan is packed with moisturisers that penetrate deep into your skin to prevent dry patches from occurring. This also makes it easier to apply to problem areas like hands and feet. So once you’re done all you’re left with is a sensational look and dreamy smooth skin. Nothing more, nothing less.

What fragrance does Xen-Tan have?

Each product has a different light and delicious fragrance, which are not at all ‘biscuity’ like other fake tans often are. Due to its high levels of DHA, Dark Lotion Absolute Luxe also contains Scent Secure – a revolutionary new ingredient that locks out any chemical odour.

Can I use Xen-Tan on my face?

No, Xen-Tan contains no SPF, so always make sure you use a high factor sun cream when you’re out in the sun. We recommend using an oil-free variety as the oils in sun cream can break down DHA and cause your tan to fade more quickly.

Can I moisturise with Xen-Tan?

Yes you can – we recommend that once you’ve showered after applying, you moisturise skin daily with an oil-free moisturiser. On the third day after applying, gently exfoliate your skin with Xen-Tan Body Scrub. Don’t worry, it’s completely colour-safe so won’t strip your tan, it’ll just keep your skin feeling wonderfully soft and smooth.
